CheckPulse vs UptimeRobot for agencies
UptimeRobot is the default uptime monitor, and for good reason. If you run a web agency and are deciding where to put your clients' sites, these are the differences that matter. Every UptimeRobot detail below links to UptimeRobot's own documentation or pricing page, checked on Oct 2, 2026.
Disclosure: CheckPulse is my product. It is new and I have no agency customers yet. Elvis Ramirez.
1. How each decides a site is down
UptimeRobot
Each check runs from one region at a time, rotating through North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania. A failure is retried up to 3 times in that same region. If any single region fails its retries, the monitor is marked down and you are alerted.
Their words: “a single region's failed (and retried) check is enough to mark the monitor down.” source · source
CheckPulse
Every interval, the site is checked from the US, the EU and Asia. It is marked down only when at least 2 of the 3 regions see it fail. One region's network having a bad minute does not open an incident or send an alert.
The rule is one line in the scheduler: down when 2 or more regions report down.
What this means in practice: UptimeRobot's retries already filter most one-off blips, and they say so. The case CheckPulse handles differently is a problem confined to one region's network path, such as a routing issue or a firewall rule that blocks one checker. UptimeRobot alerts on that. CheckPulse does not, because the other two regions can still reach the site.
The trade-off cuts the other way too. If a client site really is down only for visitors in one region, CheckPulse will not call it an outage. You still see the failing region in the monitor's check history.
2. Branded status pages for each client
- UptimeRobot Solo ($28/month for 50 monitors, billed monthly) includes 3 status pages with your logo, colours and a custom subdomain. Removing UptimeRobot branding (white-label) starts on Team ($46/month, 100 monitors, 100 white-label pages). pricing · white-label
- CheckPulse gives every project its own public status page with the client's name, logo and brand colour. Starter ($12/month) covers 10 projects and 40 monitors at 60-second checks. Pro ($49/month) covers 50 projects and 200 monitors at 30-second checks. One project per client means one branded page per client.
Where UptimeRobot is ahead here: custom domains (status.yourclient.com) and full white-label. CheckPulse status pages live at checkpulse.dev/status/<name> and show a small “Powered by CheckPulse” footer. If either of those is a hard requirement for your clients, UptimeRobot Team is the better fit today.
3. Organising many clients
- UptimeRobot suggests one monitor group per client. Groups need a paid plan, and giving a client their own dashboard login needs Team or higher. source · source
- CheckPulse is organised by project from the start: one project per client, holding that client's monitors, alert channels and status page. Alerts go to Slack, Discord, Telegram, email or a webhook, set per project.
